I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all. (Ecclesiastes 9:11 – King James Version)
What will you do with the time you’ve been given? In life we have been given time and chance. We have been given time to look at life to determine whether God is real or whether He is not.
On the contrary, in the time given us, we can be of the opinion that we are our own god, in control of our own lives. God wants us to choose Him.
God doesn’t give one person more time or more chances than the other. We all start out with the same amount of time. We determine the outcome of our life by what we do with the time we have been given.
We all have to take chances. I like to call them opportunities. What chances or opportunities will you take? Are you more willing to take a chance on what the world says is a sure thing, or are you willing to go all the way with what the Bible says. The Bible says that God is more real than the air we breathe. He truly is the sure thing. Therefore, any time you choose God, you choose to win.
The scripture above tells us who wins in life. Comparing the life we live to a race, it is clear that the one who wins the race is the one who makes the best of his time; and who makes the most of the opportunities granted him/her—in prayer and study of the Word, hearing God’s voice and obeying His Word.
Take time every day to read the Word of God and pray. In doing so, God will show you step by step what to do. Then when He reveals His plan for your life to you, continue to read the Word of God and stay in His presence to find out when to do as He has instructed, how to accomplish the plan, and who will help you to accomplish these goals. If you let Him, He will lead you step by step to success in life. It is an on going process. There are always new facets of your life that God is revealing to you as you continually seek Him.
So, make the best of the time you have here on earth. Set goals according to God’s will. And then set your face like a flint to accomplish them. You may say that it will take a miracle to do what is really in your heart. Well, God is in the miracle business. He’s not looking for your qualifications or intellectual ability, He’s looking for your willing and obedient heart.
I leave you with this. You are not in a race against another person. It is not even a race against time. The race is against yourself; can you beat the thoughts that would hold you back? Sure you can. When you choose God as your very own you can beat the odds, because Jesus Christ lives in you, and He will never leave you. He is not in you just to make you feel good. Jesus lives in you to see you through this life successfully, because greater is He who is in you than any odds you come up against. Make the best of your time.
