Psalms for Summer – Day 11

Psalms for Summer

Three Steps to Victory

Psalm 21:1-2

By Carolyn T. Bridges

1 The king shall have joy in Your strength, O Lord; and in Your salvation how greatly shall he rejoice! 2 You have given him his heart’s desire, and have not withheld the request of his lips. (NKJV)
It is good to stop and testify once in a while about what the Lord has already done. We sometimes get so caught up current trials that we forget what God has already done in our life. Here is how I got a testimony of victory over a credit card debt.
1. Decide what you want from God.
2. Find Scripture that promise you that desire.
3. Apply the Scripture until you receive the desire.
This is my testimony. Several years ago, I decided I wanted to pay off a large credit card debt. I found Scripture that promised me that desire. 2 Kings 4:7 and Mark 11:14-25. Then I applied the Scripture to the problem. I spoke to the debt, just as Jesus spoke to the fig tree in Mark 11:14. I said, “Debt, you are paid off in Jesus’ name.”
As I continued making monthly payments, it seemed that month after month the debt screamed back at me saying, “I’ll never go down.” I would simply speak back to it and say, “Debt, you are paid off in Jesus’ name.” I said it when I felt like it, and when I did not feel like it. I said it because Jesus said to speak to your mountain and it should obey you (Mark 11:23-24).
I continued in this day in and day out, week in and week out. One day, as I was on my way to my mailbox, the thought came to me saying, ‘You will never get ahead. That bill will never go down.’ I looked in my mailbox and found a check from an unexpected source that was more than enough to pay off the debt. I rejoiced all the way to the bank. I paid off the debt immediately. God gave me my heart’s desire.
What is it that you desire? Find Scripture that promises you that request. That way you have a solid foundation for your faith. Then, hold fast to God’s promises concerning it. Hold on to your confession of faith and never let it go. He will surely bring it to pass. He did it for me, and He will do it for you. When He does it, tell us about it. Testify to glorify the Name of Jesus.
