Commitment
Did you go to church on Sunday? I did.
I had a great time with the Lord. I had a real “blue-carpet” experience.

What is a “blue-carpet” experience,
you may ask? In our sanctuary, the floor
is covered with beautiful “blue
carpet.” At the
altar, imbedded in the blue carpet is a gold line of carpet that spans the
altar from one end to the other. The gold line is the place where people are
invited to stand to commit their lives to the Lord by way of salvation,
rededication, infilling of the Holy Spirit, church membership, and many other
areas of commitment.

The “blue
carpet”, which is the largest portion at the altar, is for praising the
Lord. Today, we praised the God and
Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, and His Glory met us by speaking to us through

To reiterate (my personal interpretation of the sermon):
Give yourself completely to God. Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate
Dictionary Eleventh Edition defines “commit” as follows: to
pledge or assign to some particular course or use. Given that definition,

We have to make a quality decision to commit ourselves to
God’s will, a decision of which there is no turning back. And when we do, we
must do our assignment with everything we’ve got—in that way we give God praise
and have our own blue-carpet experience.

Ephesians 2:10 Amplified Bible
For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus,
[born anew] that we may do those good works
which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He
prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and
made ready for us to live].
