A Father’s Day Message

Honor Your Father

Honour thy father and thy mother, as the Lord thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.
Deuteronomy 5:16  (KJV)

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads in the world!  This is a very special day and a day for many to honor and recognize their fathers. If your father is alive, call him up, go out to dinner, take him to his favorite sports event, do something that he likes to do.   Do something today to show honor to your dad!

My natural father (George) is in heaven today along with my mom (Nellie), but I still have great memories of my dad.  With only a third grade education, he did his best to make sure that his five children and my mom had what they needed.  He provided guidance and protection for the family and was always there for us. He did not run off and abandon his wife and kids. He stayed close to us until he made his transition to heaven.

Was my dad perfect, no; did he always do the right thing, no; did he make mistakes, yes; did he correct us when we made mistakes, yes; did he encourage me, yes; was he proud of his children, yes; did he love us, yes; did he love the Lord; yes.

As a dad, am I perfect, no; have I always done the right thing, no; have I made mistakes, yes; have I corrected my children when they have made mistakes, yes; do I encourage them, yes; am I proud of my children, yes; do I love them, yes; do I love the Lord, yes.

Through the Word of God and my mom, my brother and my three sisters all learned how to Honor our Father.   My father was a man of God that loved the Lord and loved his family; not his entire life; but mostly the last 15 years of his life.  He lived to be 85 years old.  My dad did made mistakes, but I never wanted to say bad things about my dad.   But even with some of the things that we think were bad, the Word of God and  our mother taught us to respect our dad..   After some traumatic sickness and failed operations which put him in a wheel chair, he committed his life to the Lord.  He would give his last shirt to us, if we asked or needed it.  I loved my dad and I can say that his whole family loved him!

Also,  take time to honor your spiritual father, the person that was responsible for winning you to Christ and the person you have submitted to in the Lord.  Bishop Keith A. Butler, founder of Word of Faith International Christian Center, is my spiritual father.  I am submitted to his spiritual leadership in the Lord.  My pastor, is now Pastor Andre Butler, who is the Senior Pastor of Word of Faith International Christian Center in Southfield , Michigan.  Happy Father’s Day to both Bishop Butler and Pastor Andre.

I am a father and I love all my children.   My children are Johnny, Aubrey and Camille. Each year they show honor to me as being their dad.  They are the best children a dad can have.   As a father I take this time to pronounce a blessing over them for their lives.

My family is taking me to the Detroit Tigers Baseball game on Monday.  But along with them honoring me, we are taking my adopted dad and mom, Mr. and Mrs. Roosevelt Bird to honor them!

If you are born again or in other words, you have made Jesus the Lord of Your Life, you have a heavenly Father who loves you.  Your Father God loves you so much that He gave you Jesus, his only begotten son. Jesus came and paid for your eternal life.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 (KJV)

Take time to worship and thank your heavenly Farther today.

But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth:for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit:and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. John 4:23-24 (KJV)

Honor Him, Worship Him, Praise Him and thank Him for being your daddy.

God Bless You today.
Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads.
