Christmas Countdown, Marathon Faith

The Christ in Christmas
The Christmas Covenant
By Carolyn Bridges
Hebrews 8:10 (King James Version)

For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

Hallelujah!

There is more to Christmas than the BLACK FRIDAY SALE and giving and receiving gifts.  Christmas is a day dedicated to the One Who loved you so much that He gave His life so that you could live in health, wealth, and ultimately, live with Him forever. Jesus, the Christ, is the Lamb of a covenant God made with you and me.  History tells us that for every covenant that is made there had to be bloodshed.  With every covenant, there had to be two people that would make an exchange.  For every covenant, there are terms and agreements.  And in every covenant, the terms and agreements must be accepted by the initiator of the covenant.

God initiated a covenant  He needed sacrificial blood.  Jesus became the ultimate Sacrifice.  Jesus allowed Himself to be beaten to a bloody pulp for you and for me.  Then God accepted the blood sacrifice, raised Jesus from the dead, and ratified (or sealed) the covenant.  When we accept Jesus, the Child that we celebrate -- born of a virgin -- He becomes our risen Lord.

Now, in Christ, because of our faith in Him, God’s laws are in our hearts. He is our God, and we are His people.  Also, because of our faith in Him, these are benefits that He provided for us:

For poverty and lack, He has given us wealth.

For sickness, He has given us health.

For spiritual death, He has given us eternal life.

Jesus is the Christ in Christmas
