Christmas is the celebration of the Birth of Jesus Christ, who was born of a virgin to save mankind. He lived in the earth and demonstrated God’s will for man, gave Himself as the final sacrifice for sin, was buried and went to hell and obtained eternal redemption for all who would believe on Him. God then raised Him from the dead, and He will come again to catch us away, and those believers will reign with Him forever.

The name “Jesus” is also interpreted “Emmanuel” and means “God with Us” as noted in Mark 1:23. According to Strong’s Greek Dictionary, the title “Christ” means anointed. Jesus presents His ministry in Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, (verse 19) To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. You can see why Christmas is such a joyous occasion.
Christmas is the fulfillment of Isaiah 9:6
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Jesus is the “child” born. Jesus is the “Son” given. Jesus then further explains why God sent Him. The explanation is found in John 3:16: For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. Jesus is the Son God gave to save the world.
Is everyone saved simply because Jesus came into the world?
