What’s Love Got to Do with It? Thought, Word and Deed

1 Corinthians 13:7 (King James Version)
By George Bridges
7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. (KJV)
In 1 Corinthians 13:7 in the Living Bible (Paraphrased) verse 7 says this:  “If you love someone you will be loyal to him no matter what the cost. You will always believe in him, always expect the best of him, and always stand your ground in defending him.”  Love towards someone can be expressed in three ways: thought, word and deed.
How do you love in thought, word and deed?  I would venture to say that if you can’t do all three then you really don’t love a person.  How can you say you love a person and think evil or bad thoughts about them?  In deed you can act like you love a person, but if you never tell them they may not understand your actions toward them. How can you say that you love someone and act like you love someone but not be loyal to them and be willing to defend them in any situation?
Saying negative things about someone is an indication that you do not really love that person.  If you are a person who tell their children that they are bad they will start believing that they are bad.  Words are like seeds so what we say will bring about a harvest, whether good or bad.  What are you saying to your love ones?  Are you speaking words of encouragement, words of peace and words of comfort to them?  We should use our words to build people up and not tear them down.  A person acting in love will give people close to them all the credit when things are going well and they will take or shoulder the blame when things go wrong. When you love someone, you won’t blame those you love for the problems that may exist in your life.

Lastly, when you love someone you will show them your love through your actions.  Not only will you think the best and believe in them, and say that you love them; you will be willing to do things to help them and give to them.   We show God our love towards him by thinking about His Word, by telling Him that we love Him and by obeying His commandment.  We have to love God in thought, word and deed.  We also have to love people in thought, word and deed.
