Abilities to Show

Matthew 25:34-36 (King James Version)
by Carolyn Bridges

34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35) For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: 36) Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

I believe that one thing we all must settle in life is that we are created for a purpose. That means that I am created for a purpose and so are you. Since God has placed abilities in you, then you are to show those abilities to the people around you. That which He has blessed you with is not to be hidden under a bushel. It is to be shown to the world—your world.

I had to settle once and for all that I have abilities to show. Having grown up in a more or less “average” lifestyle, I never thought that I would do anything great. In fact, it was instilled in me by society that you are to just accept whatever your lot in life is. Don’t try to be anything that you are not. But God had another idea.

You have abilities in you to show to the world that Jesus is Lord. Great things can happen to “average” people. Great things happen when homemakers, schoolteachers, secretaries, janitors, managers, or business owners (or whatever you are) decide to show forth their God-given ability in the lives of the people around you. There is greatness inside of you.
